Bespoke furniture crafted to fit life and place

CustomFurniture partners with homeowners, designers and businesses to create one-of-a-kind pieces engineered for daily life. We begin with careful listening: how a space is used, light and scale, material preferences, and maintenance expectations. Then we translate that brief into detailed drawings, 3D visuals and material studies so clients can see and feel the final intent before fabrication begins.

Our atelier blends digital precision and hand finishing. CNC machining ensures repeatable accuracy where required, while hand-assembled joinery and finish work guarantee tactile refinement. We stabilize reclaimed timber, specify responsibly harvested lumber, and source complementary metals, stone and upholstery from trusted suppliers to assemble durable, elegant furniture built to age gracefully.

Our Process — from brief to installed piece

1

Consultation & Briefing

We meet to understand use cases, site constraints and aesthetic goals. Measured surveys and reference photography inform an initial concept. Budget ranges are discussed openly to align ambitions with practical choices.

2

Design Development

Our designers produce scaled drawings, material samples and photorealistic visualizations. Structural considerations, joinery methods and finish options are finalized. We iterate until the design satisfies function, proportion and craft criteria.

3

Material Sourcing & Mockups

Materials are selected for durability, provenance and visual harmony. We prepare sample panels, joinery mockups and finish tests to ensure the chosen palette performs as expected in the project environment.

4

Precision Fabrication

Production combines CNC accuracy with hand-assembled details. Mortise-and-tenon, dovetail and frame-and-panel assemblies are executed with jigs that preserve tolerances while allowing for final hand-fitting. Surfaces are pre-finished where appropriate to protect delicate finishes during transit.

5

Delivery & On-site Fit

On-site adjustments—shimming, leveling and final sealing—ensure the furniture sits perfectly. We coordinate installation with existing services and provide care instructions and maintenance guidance to protect the finish and structure for years.

Why commission bespoke furniture?

Perfect Fit & Function

Bespoke pieces respond precisely to your space and habits. Built-in storage, ergonomic dimensions and integrated cable management turn furniture into systems rather than objects. A tailored bench or cabinet can reclaim awkward corners and improve daily workflow.

Material Story & Provenance

Selecting reclaimed timber or responsibly harvested hardwoods adds depth and meaning to a piece. We document material sources and provide provenance notes so clients understand the story behind the timber and how it was prepared for reuse.

Craft Longevity

Joinery and construction methods are chosen for serviceability. Simple, repairable assemblies and replaceable wear components mean a lifetime of function rather than planned obsolescence.

Tailored Finish Options

We offer oils, hardwax, lacquer and painted finishes, each selected to match use-case and aesthetics. Finishes are tested for UV stability, water resistance and abrasion so that the appointed finish is appropriate for the intended environment.

Integrated Workflows with Designers

We collaborate closely with interior designers and architects, integrating joinery into broader fit-outs, ensuring electrical, plumbing and structural considerations are resolved in advance and the final piece complements the overall scheme.

Sustainability & Circularity

By using reclaimed materials and designing for repair, commissions reduce embodied carbon and extend material lifecycles. Where new timber is required, we source certified options and prioritize local supply chains to reduce transport impacts.

Workshop practice, finishes and care

Our workshop balance centers on three principles: precision, restraint and respect for material. Precision comes from accurate measuring and jigs that ensure repetitive parts fit together consistently. Restraint is the aesthetic discipline of removing excess detail so the grain and joinery can stand forward. Respect for material shows in how we prepare boards—stabilizing, re-sawing and acclimatizing to the workshop environment—so that movement across the seasons is anticipated and allowed for in the design.

Finishing is both protective and expressive. For dining surfaces that will see daily use we prefer hardwax oils that penetrate and cure to a resilient, repairable finish. For cabinetry, where cleanability is important, low-gloss lacquers with UV inhibitors provide durable protection. Staining is used sparingly; we prefer to celebrate timber character, using tone to harmonize rather than to mask.

Care recommendations are included with each commission. Basic maintenance—periodic oil refresh, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct heat sources, and re-tightening mechanical fixings—ensures the piece ages gracefully. For upholstered elements, we supply fabric care notes and recommend scheduled inspections when pieces are in heavy-use commercial environments.
